BENG ELECTRONIC SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

    Electronic Science and Technology

    Overview

The BEng Electronic Science and Technology programme offers you a thorough foundation in semiconductor microelectronics, electronic engineering and photonics.

The programme will enable you to study the complex working processes of electronic devices as well as the technology of integrated circuit (IC) design and manufacturing.

You will learn to operate at cutting-edge or emerging technologies and be prepared to work in a field with multiple career opportunities due to a worldwide shortage of graduates and engineers.

Why should I study Electronic Science and Technology at XJTLU?

    • Strong focus on microelectronics and photonics
    • Use state-of-the-art equipments and tools for developing integrated circuit (IC) design, IC fabrication and application in electronic systems
    • Have access to five well-equipped cleanrooms to apply knowledge learnt in class and from books
    • Study an IC design module, with hands-on learning using appropriate software, which is unique among Chinese universities
    • Earn two degrees: an XJTLU degree from the Chinese Ministry of Education and a globally-recognised degree from the University of Liverpool, a member of the Russell Group of leading UK universities

    Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from the BEng Electronic Science and Technology programme, you will have:

    • extensive experience in modelling and analytical methods
    • the ability to design an electronic or optoelectronic system, component or process based on initial requirements and constraints
    • the skills to use IT tools and computer-aided design (CAD) systems for modelling, analysis, simulation and design
    • the ability to design and fabricate integrated circuit chips or optoelectronic or photonic devices.

This programme will help you understand micro- & nano-fabrication using state-of-the-art technology and facilities in cleanrooms. You will also learn design rules and methodology for IC designs drawn on graph paper with a stipulated scale and drawn using professional software.
