• Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis every Friday evening, starting at 6:10 PM, following which the audience will be admitted.

Abstract

Last semester, the "Friday Movie Night" academic screening event organized by the Academy of Film and Creative Technology at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University was highly praised by both faculty and students. As a signature event of the Academy, it featured carefully selected films screened every Friday evening during the teaching weeks in the cinema on the 2nd floor of Building AS. Following each screening, a faculty member would lead a discussion session, guiding the audience to delve into the academic value and artistic essence of the films. This event enriched the cultural atmosphere of campus life and became an important platform for learning and communication among faculty and students.

The Friday Movie Night screening series returns this semester as a jointly organized event, curated by the?School of Humanities and Social Sciences,?Department of Media and Communication (DMC)?with the support of the?Academy of Film and Creative Technology. Open to all movie enthusiasts on campus, the film selection this semester is culturally diverse and comprises critically acclaimed and artistically ambitious films. The screenings will be preceded by introductory remarks made by?Dr?Laura Sava, the DMC coordinator of the screening series.
